Abstract
Although improvements in the treatment of various gynecologic malignancies including new chemotherapies and combinations of surgery or radiation plus chemotherapy have been developed in the past few years, the most significant impact on mortality from cancer has been achieved by prevention and early detection of this disease. If we examine the incidence of gynecologic cancers and the death rate from these malignancies, it can be seen that cervical and ovarian cancers are the most significant; therefore, this lecture will address those two malignancies.
