Abstract
A linear array of hall sensors has been realized in a 100% CMOS compatible technology. A cylindrical magnet, diametrally magnetized, mounted at the middle of the turning axis provides a pattern, that has a zero field position depending on the angular position.
Hall array and magnet form a system, that empossibles angular position detection using a linear regression over the signals of some of the hall sensors. Applying a linear regression over the signals of eight sensors a resolution below 0.1° is possible. The position value is available at once after power up. Due to single standard CMOS chip capability, a reasonable price is achievable.
