Zusammenfassung

Das Mediastinum beinhaltet alle Strukturen, die oberhalb des Zwerchfells und unterhalb des Niveaus der 1. Rippe zwischen den Lungen liegen. Zu besseren Orientierung wird das Mediastinum in verschiedene Kompartimente unterteilt. Hierfür sind in der Literatur leider unterschiedliche Schemata gebräuchlich. Zusätzlich verwirrend ist, dass sich die radiologische Einteilung im Thoraxbild von der anatomischen Kompartimentierung unterscheidet. Dies soll im Folgenden erläutert werden.
