Zusammenfassung
Die Weltwirtschaft sieht sich in den vergangenen Jahren immer wieder neuen und zum Teil besorgniserregenden Entwicklungen gegenüber und nicht zuletzt durch die Finanzkrise wird sie mit gewaltigen Problemen konfrontiert. Allerdings ist die Finanzkrise bei weitem nicht der einzige Schauplatz, der eine etwas gründlichere Betrachtung verdient. Entsprechend versucht dieser Beitrag, einen Überblick über einige momentan drängende makroökonomische Fragestellungen zu liefern und bietet Lösungen an.
Ausgehend von den globalen Ungleichgewichten aufgrund der enormen weltweiten Ersparnis wird argumentiert, dass die weltweite Sparschwemme die Beherrschung der Finanzkrise zumindest zum Teil unterstützt hat. Eine weitere aktuelle wirtschaftspolitische Debatte knüpft an die enorme Auslandsverschuldung der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika an. Nicht zuletzt deswegen wird die dominierende Rolle des US-Dollars als weltweite Führungswährung immer öfter in Zweifel gezogen. Auch die EZB wird vor bedeutende Herausforderungen gestellt, da sie eine einheitliche Geldpolitik für einen immer noch recht heterogenen Währungsraum zu betreiben hat. Abschließend werden Überlegungen zum monetären Ausstieg aus der im Zuge der Finanzkrise überaus expansiv gestalteten unkonventionellen Geldpolitik angestellt.
