Abstract

As fairly stable and weakly interacting particles, relic neutrinos of the Big Bang must survive today and form a cosmic background similar to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. This cosmic neutrino background (CνB) played an important role in the evolution of the Universe. A measurement of the CMB anisotropies can tell us a lot of cosmological information, including the number of neutrino species and neutrino masses. Since massive neutrinos became non-relativistic when the temperature fell below their masses, they should have left an imprint on the clustering of galaxies. In this chapter we shall first describe how the CMB and large-scale structures (LSS) formed, and then discuss how to constrain neutrino masses from the measurements of the CMB and LSS. We shall also comment on sterile neutrinos as a possible candidate of warm dark matter in the Universe.
