Zusammenfassung

Moderne Pharmakotherapie muss im Spannungsfeld zwischen Standardisierung einerseits und Individualisierung andererseits bestehen, will sie den Ansprüchen an eine möglichst optimale Behandlung des einzelnen Patienten genügen. Standardisierung ist erforderlich, um Therapiesicherheit zu gewährleisten und dem behandelnden Arzt verlässliche Anhaltspunkte über den zu erwartenden Nutzen der Therapie zur Verfügung zu stellen. Individualisierung ist aber ebenso essenziell, denn jedes Initiieren einer Pharmakotherapie ist in gewissem Sinne auch ein Einzelexperiment mit nicht vollständig gewissem Ausgang, können doch nie alle individuellen Faktoren a priori berücksichtigt und kalkuliert werden. Die Kenntnisse über Nutzen und Risiko einer Pharmakotherapie stammen in heutiger Zeit nach den Prämissen der evidenzbasierten Medizin aus möglichst gut kontrollierten Studien.
