Abstract
This chapter focuses on the supply and procurement management processes for material resources. First, the main organizational models for procurement are presented with regard to centralized or project-based units, and plus and minus of competitive procurement versus partnering procurement are discussed. Then, the main methods for selecting and rating vendors are outlined. Finally, the material procurement process is described including basics of competitive bidding and negotiations, as well as notions of inventory management.
