Neueren Erkenntnissen nach sind Karzinosarkome epithelialen Ursprungs. Sie werden dennoch aus Gründen der besseren Übersichtlichkeit und zu deren besserer Abgrenzung nicht unter den anderen epithelialen Malignomen des Uterus, sondern eigens in diesem Kapitel behandelt.
