Zusammenfassung

Arbeitsverhalten ist ein Schlüsselbegriff der Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie – methodisch betrachtet ist das Verhalten in der Arbeit die wichtigste abhängige Variable, die es zu erklären und zu prognostizieren gilt. Der Grund dafür liegt natürlich in der Bedeutung des Arbeitsverhaltens für die ganze Organisation: Unternehmen brauchen Mitarbeiter, die ein optimales Arbeitsverhalten zeigen, um ihre Ziele zu erreichen, die für ihr Überleben notwendigen Produkte und Dienstleistungen herzustellen und dabei möglichst Wettbewerbsvorteile zu erringen. Dies zeigt bereits, dass gewöhnlich bei dem Begriff Arbeitsverhalten spontan an die Leistung der Mitarbeiter gedacht wird. Nimmt man aber den Begriff weiter im Sinne des Verhaltens in der Arbeit, zeigt sich schnell, dass zum Arbeitsverhalten sehr viel mehr zählt als »nur« die Bewältigung der zugewiesenen Aufgaben. Offensichtlich ist Arbeitsverhalten ein mehrdimensionales Konzept, das im Folgenden etwas aufgeschlüsselt wird.
