Zusammenfassung
Die Diagnose und Behandlung einer Krebserkrankung wird von vielen Patienten als belastend erlebt. Ungeachtet dessen unterscheiden sich die Betroffenen im Hinblick auf derartige Herausforderungen erheblich in den in ihnen hervorgerufenen psychologischen Reaktionen sowie in ihrer Fahigkeit, sich davon zu erholen. Neben der Angst vor Rezidiven und Nebenwirkungen einer adjuvanten Th erapie geht die Krebserkrankung oft einher mit der Besorgnis, das Heranwachsen der eigenen Kinder zu versaumen, vorzeitig sterben zu mussen und nur noch wenig Zeit mit dem Lebenspartner verbringen zu konnen. Aber auch um den Verlust von sozialen Bindungen und vertrauten Aktivitaten, sexueller Attraktivitat und Sexualempfinden sorgen sich viele der Krebspatienten. Von Bedeutung ist, dass das wahrend der Behandlung von den Patienten geau.erte Ausma. an Disstress einen Pradiktor fur deren Anpassung an die Krankheit einige Jahre spater darstellen kann. Demzufolge konnen sowohl chronischer Stress als auch eine verminderte Lebensqualitat uber viele Jahre der Krebserkrankung bestehen bleiben.
