Zusammenfassung

Kardiovaskulare (Herz-Kreislauf-) Krankheiten sind in den industrialisierten Landern die haufigste Todesursache. So z. B. entfielen in der Schweiz im Jahr 1999 41% der Todesfalle in der Gesamtbevolkerung auf kardiovaskulare Krankheiten. Dabei machten die ischamischen Herzkrankheiten (inkl. Herz-bzw. Myokardinfarkt) mit 18%, andere Herzleiden (inkl. Herzinsuffizienz) mit 9% und zerebrovaskulare Krankheiten (inkl. ischamischer Hirnschlag) mit 8% den Gro.teil aus. Die Pravalenz der arteriellen Hypertonie (Bluthochdruck) und des metabolischen Syndroms betragt in der erwachsenen Weltbevolkerung je 25%. Die WHO prognostiziert, dass im Jahr 2030 die koronare Herzkrankheit, die depressiven Storungen und die HIV-/ AIDS-Erkrankung die drei haufigsten Krankheitsursachen sein werden. Die Komorbiditat von kardiovaskularen Krankheiten mit psychischen Storungen und psychologischen Auff alligkeiten ist hoch, z. B. zeigen 40% der Patienten nach einem Herzinfarkt eine klinisch relevante depressive Storung.
