Zusammenfassung

Die Therapie des Kreislaufstillstands besteht aus kardiopulmonaler Reanimation (CPR) in verschiedenen Stufen. Zu den Basismaßnahmen (»basic life support«; BLS) gehören Mund-zu-Mund-/Mundzu- Nase-Beatmung oder Beutelbeatmung sowie Thoraxkompressionen. Die erweiterten Reanimationsmaßnahmen (»advanced cardiac life support«: ACLS) bestehen u. a. aus Intubation, Applikation von Vasopressoren und Antiarrhythmika, sowie der Defibrillation. Im November 2005 sind vom European Resuscitation Council und der American Heart Association Leitlinien zur CPR veröffentlicht worden, die als Grundlage dieses Kapitels dienen [2, 3]. Wichtige Änderungen der neuen nach Redaktionsschluss dieses Buchkapitels 2010 erschienen Leitlinien sind im Rahmen der Imprimatur noch berücksichtigt worden (weitere Infos: www.erc.edu). Die Leitlinien sind anhand eines »evidence-based« Konzepts entstanden.
