Abstract

Asia is entering the phase of establishment of the future sustainable energy system. Sustainability means to provide sufficient, reliable energy to cover the necessary, rapidly increasing consumption requirement with available natural resources within acceptable levels of global resource depletion and environment pollution, but without destroying the ecological balance of the earth. It is necessary to reduce gradually the dependence on the fossil energy percentage and thereby enhance the reliance on low carbon nuclear and renewable energy percentage.
