Abstract

This Chapter is devoted to the analysis of some applications of group theory toparticle physics and, in particular, to the wide use of unitary groups and their representations. Their role has been extremely important in the investigation of the particle interactions, since they led to the discovery of hidden symmetries and new invariance principles which have, in general, no analogues in classical physics and which provide the basic frame for all theoretical schemes
