Zusammenfassung
Die Leber wiegt im Mittel 1800 g beim Mann und 1400 g bei der Frau. Wie aus der Prometheussage bekannt, besitzt die Leber eine ausgeprägte Regenerationsfähigkeit, solange das Organ nicht stark geschädigt und fibrotisch umgewandelt ist. Hämodynamisch wird die Leber über die A. hepatica propria und die V. portae versorgt, wobei »Feedbackmechanismen « zwischen beiden Systemen bestehen. Ein System allein vermag die Leberperfusion zu sichern, weshalb eine Pfortaderthrombose ebenso wie ein Verschluss der A. hepatica propria in der Regel überlebt wird.
