Zusammenfassung

Die Appendektomie ist die häufigste abdominalchirurgische Operation und für nahezu alle Chirurgen der erste intraabdominelle Eingriff, der in der Ausbildung durchgeführt wird. Dennoch herrscht nach wie vor eine erstaunliche Unsicherheit in der Diagnosestellung der Appendizitis und der Festlegung des optimalen Operationszeitpunktes, die auch ihren Niederschlag in häufigen forensischen Implikationen findet.
