Abstract
Researches show that China has rich oil and gas resource. However, there is still a certain distance to oversea advanced level in overall exploration effect. We are faced with of the problems of “low reserves abundance, deep occurrence and hidden target”. The future oil and gas exploration shall develop from structural trap to non-structural lithologic and stratigraphic trap, from continental strata to marine strata, from shallow to deep and from onshore exploration to offshore exploration. We need to make full use of the achievement of global science and technology to continuously solve the theoretical and technical problems faced by natural gas exploration and form a theoretical system and core technology through independent innovation, thus ensuring the stable development of oil industry of China. We should adhere to the energy strategic principle in the next few decades of “giving priority to the exploration and development of domestic oil and gas resource, moderately importing oil and gas according to market rule, building energy saving society and developing renewable clean energy”, which is also the guarantee of maintaining independence in terms of politics and diplomacy and safeguard national interests and also the outline for guiding the scientific and technological development of oil and gas.
