Zusammenfassung
Das Web 2.0 hat die Rolle des Internetnutzers neu definiert: vom weitgehend passiven Empfänger von Informationen und Verwender standardisierter Web-Angebote hin zum aktiven Kommunikator und Gestalter. Diese Kernidee des Web 2.0, den Konsumenten Raum zu geben, sich zu präsentieren und miteinander zu kommunizieren, erfreut sich sowohl nutzer-, als auch angebotsseitig noch immer zunehmender Beliebtheit. Portale wie YouTube oder Flickr, bei denen die User ihre persönlichen Videos oder Bilder für Fremde verfügbar machen, funktionieren ausschließlich aufgrund von aktiver User-Partizipation. So laden Nutzer beispielsweise bei YouTube in jeder Minute 13 h an Videoaufnahmen hoch (Berg 2008). Diese nutzergenerierten Inhalte sind für Millionen von Rezipienten so attraktiv, dass YouTube mittlerweile auch für die Werbeindustrie ein interessantes Portal geworden ist. Vor allem aus diesem Grund hat Google, der größte Anbieter von Online-Werbung, Ende 2006 für 1,3 Mrd. € YouTube gekauft.
