Abstract

Sensor network’s applications in the growth monitoring fields of a farming have been attempted in a variety of methods. The most significant characteristic of the growth monitoring is that its detecting period for data is very long, its installation location is not almost changed after once installing, and it should be operating for a long time. Therefore, MAC protocol to satisfy these characteristics is required. Proposed MAC protocol makes the node list for the range of enabling to transmit, measures the minimum transmitting power to be able to transceive for each node during synchronizing process, and uses the minimum transmitting power measured when transceiving data. The energy consumption ratio and the network survival rate for SMAC (Sensor MAC) and PSMAC (transmission Power control in SMAC) are compared through the mathematical analysis and the simulation.
