Zusammenfassung

Bei der Arthrose handelt es sich um eine nicht entzündliche Erkrankung des Gelenkknorpels. Im Frühstadium betrifft sie nur den Knorpel, später auch die übrigen Gelenkstrukturen, z. B. den Knochen und den Kapsel-Band-Apparat. Gekennzeichnet ist die Arthrose durch das unaufhaltsame Fortschreiten. Im fortgeschrittenen Stadium kann es zu schweren, den Knochen betreffenden Deformitäten (Arthrosis deformans) kommen.
