Zusammenfassung

Der frühkindliche Autismus wird zu den tiefgreifenden Entwicklungsstörungen gezählt. Es handelt sich folglich um eine Störung mit einer schweren qualitativen Abweichung vom normalen Entwicklungsverlauf, die zu keinem Alterszeitpunkt normal ist. Kinder mit tiefgreifenden Entwicklungsstörungen weisen im Unterschied zu vielen psychischen Störungen mit typischen und charakteristischen Remissionen und Rezidiven Einschränkungen oder Verzögerungen mit einem stetigen Verlauf auf. Untersuchungen zur Stabilität der Diagnose beschreiben entsprechend hohe Übereinstimmungen zwischen dem Kindes- und Erwachsenenalter (Nordin u. Gillberg 1998; Howlin et al. 2004; Billstedt et al. 2005) mit einer Kontinuität der Trias von Interaktions- bzw. Kommunikationsstörungen und repetitivem und stereotypem Verhalten (Howlin 2003; Ballaban-Gil et al. 1996).
