Zusammenfassung

DieSchizophrenie als homogenes Krankheitsbild mit einheitlichem klinischem Erscheinungsbild und einem eindeutig vorhersagbaren Krankheitsverlauf mit immer wieder vergleichbaren ähnlichen Krankheitsstadien gibt es nicht. Schon Eugen Bleuler (1911), der den Begriff »Schizophrenie « eingeführt hat, sprach nicht von einer Krankheit, sondern von der »Gruppe der Schizophrenie«. Die Schizophrenie wird nach dem DSM-IV (»Diagnostisches und Statistisches Manual Psychischer Störungen«; Saß, Wittchen, Zaudig & Houben, 1998) zu den »psychotischen Störungen « gezählt. In der Literatur lässt sich keine einheitliche Definition für eine »Psychose« finden.
