In dieser Vorlesung geht es um Kachelungen ebener Polygone durch andere ebene Polygone. Ein Beispiel für ein solches Problem ist Ihnen vermutlich vertraut: Zwei diagonal gegenüberliegende Quadrate (die Quadrate A1 und H8) werden aus einem Schachbrett geschnitten. Kann man dieses beschnittene Brett mit 2 × 1-„Dominosteinen“ kacheln (siehe Abbildung 23.1)?
