Abstract
Europe and women are two inextricably linked notions, realities and values. Safeguarding equality between men and women and banning gender discrimination goes way back in Europe’s history, to the beginnings of the European Community. Since 1975 the EU has issued a series of directives on gender discrimination and the European Court of Justice has delivered many relevant judgements.
Liberal Emphasis 40, July-August-September 2009. This article is based on a speech given by Mrs Rodi Kratsa at an event organised by the Constantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy in Athens, on 25 May 2009.
