Zusamenfassung

Nach Jahren der relativen Ruhe gibt es in diesem Jahr doch einige interessante neue Arbeiten: Eine retrospektive Studie an über 200 Patienten mit stabiler akuter Varizenblutung zeigt auf, dass der Zeitpunkt der endoskopischen Therapie keinen Einfluss auf die Letalität hat (1). Dies bedeutet, dass bei stabiler Varizenblutung eine Notfallendoskopie und -therapie in der Nacht nicht erforderlich ist, sondern die Spiegelung am nächsten Morgen im regulären Dienstbetrieb erfolgen kann. Bei der Arbeit muss allerdings berücksichtigt werden, dass 70 % der Patienten eine begleitende Octreotid-Infusion erhalten haben. Diese Tatsache schwächt — zusammen mit dem retrospektiven Ansatz — das Gewicht der Studie.
