Zusammenfassung
Ein Unfall ist definiert als ein heftiges, ungewöhnliches, möglicherweise gesundheitsschädigendes Ereignis, das plötzlich und unerwartet auftritt und in der Regel von kurzer Dauer ist. Personen, die einen Unfall erleiden, können im Allgemeinen nicht oder nur unzureichend auf das Ereignis reagieren, um eine Verletzung zu verhindern. Der Ausdruck “chronisch” impliziert hingegen eine Belastung, die über einen — im Vergleich zur typischen Dauer eines Unfalls — langen Zeitraum wirkt. Demzufolge sind physische wie auch mentale Reaktionen der betroffenen Personen immer möglich und können nicht vernachlässigt werden.
