Abstract

Nonsurgical management of oesophageal strictures includes luminal dilation and bougienage. The safety and success rate, the optimal duration and the type of dilation remain controversial in children with a well-known risk of stricture relapse. Luminal stenting has been demonstrated to allow strictures to be dilated over a prolonged period of time while maintaining the patency of the oesophageal lumen for feeding. In this chapter, we demonstrate an alternative stenting methodology, “a dynamic stent”, for the treatment of oesophageal strictures.
