Abstract

Unlike during the flight, the rocket engine is normally tested more than once on the test facility. The VulcainM204 was tested 25 times on the facility P5 and the accumulated test time totalled 13.788,s. Various tests (duration, operational points, regulation, etc.) are executed, covering the required range around the design point or around the operational point planned for the flight (see Sect. 4.5). Therefore on the test facility it is possible to perform extreme operational points, durations, various boundary conditions, and it is possible to test for malfunction of engine components.
