Zusammenfassung

Der Mehrzahl der ischämischen Hirninfarkte liegt eine embolische oder lokal atherothrombotische Ursache zugrunde. Die Ruptur einer atheromatösen Plaque bedingt eine fokale Gewebsverletzung mit Exposition von prokoagulatorischen Gewebsfaktoren und konsekutiver Aktivierung der Gerinnungskaskade.
