Zusammenfassung
Infektionen in der Gefäßchirurgie sind für den betroffenen Patienten mit einem erhöhten Amputationsrisiko/ Mortalität verbunden. Für die Kostenträger und Krankenhäuser fallen zudem — möglicherweise immense — Kosten an. Die Kommission Infektionen in der Gefäßchirurgie der DGG beschäftigt sich intensiv mit diesem Themenkomplex und begleitet als unabhängige Gruppe Neuentwicklungen und Einführungen. Sie berät auch bei komplexen Problemen oder Fragestellungen. Die Entscheidung für oder gegen ein bestimmtes Vorgehen bei der Infektion einer Gefäßrekonstruktion ist meistens individuell auf den Fall zugeschnitten, basierend auch auf den persönlichen Erfahrungen und Kenntnissen des Verantwortlichen. Besonders für die Behandlung der Gefäßprotheseninfektion gibt es kaum Evidenz. Dies wird treffend mit dem Titel einer Übersicht aus 2005 beschrieben: Diagnosis and treatment of prosthetic aortic graft infections: confusion and inconsistency in the absence of evidence or consensus [20].
