Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel gibt vor dem Hintergrund, dass in den letzten Jahren die Inzidenz der Cholezystitis und die Indikation zur Cholezystektomie gestiegen sind, einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Formen der akuten und chronischen Cholezystitis in Tabellen- und Abbildungsform sowie zu deren Ätiologie und Pathogenese. Zudem werden Ätiologie, Klassifikation und Pathogenese der Gallengangsteine sowie die Physiologie des Gallensäurestoffwechsels und der Gallesekretion näher beschrieben, um einen Überblick über die Komplexität der Cholelithiasis und deren damit verbundenen Folgeerkrankungen zu geben.
