Zusammenfassung
Die Brustwand ist aufgrund der günstigen schallkopfnahen Lokalisation einer sonographischen Beurteilung mit Ausnahme der Pleura parietalis hinter den Rippen sehr gut zugänglich (Sakai et al. 1990). Alle suspekten Tastbefunde im Brustkorbbereich (entzündlich oder neoplastisch) können eine Indikation zur Thoraxsonographie darstellen, oft kann das weitere Prozedere durch sonographische Verlaufskontrollen und durch ultraschallgezielte Punktionen geleitet werden. Eine hervorragende Indikation zur Brustwandsonographie ist auch ein Thoraxtrauma. Sowohl Rippen- als auch Sternumfrakturen sind zielsicher diagnostizierbar, daneben sind auch Begleiterscheinungen wie ein lokales Hämatom, Pleuraerguss oder ein Pneumothorax im Ultraschall darstellbar (Mathis 1997).
