Zusammenfassung
Die technischen Weiterentwicklungen der Sonographiegeräte als mobile und sogar tragbare Einheiten ermöglichen einen raschen bettseitigen Einsatz für vielfältige Indikationen (Sartori et al. 2007; Volpicelli 2008; Copetti u. Cattarossi 2008; Lichtenstein u. Mezière 2008). Der Schallkopf kann gewissermaßen als bildgebende Erweiterung der palpierenden Hand oder des Stethoskops benützt werden. Bei Erkrankungen im Thoraxbereich sind der Thoraxschmerz, Fieber und Dyspnoe führende Symptome. Jedes dieser Symptome kann für sich allein oder auch in Kombinationen auftreten und so eine diagnostische Orientierung zulassen (◘ Abb. 11.1). Die Ausprägung und Intensität der einzelnen Symptome wird in erster Linie durch den Schweregrad des jeweiligen Krankheitsbildes bestimmt.
