Abstract

A new electron accelerator facility offering unique research opportunities in the field of radiotherapy dosimetry has started regular operation at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig, Germany. The newly erected building accommodates three linear accelerators, namely two clinical machines and one custom-designed research accelerator. The facility meets all the experimental requirements of high-energy photon and electron dosimetry which are presently foreseeable. Numerous irradiation fields spanning an energy range from 0.5 MeV up to 50 MeV are generated.
