  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

The preceding chapters neglect the fact that investors might have to acquire external funds to carry out their desired investment alternatives. This chapter deals with the problem of financing investments with equity or debt. We show that taxation can distort financing decisions. Moreover, we analyze alternative sources of debt financing after taxes. After studying this chapter, you will be able to evaluate financing options according to their profitability.
