Zusammenfassung
Die Bilder hochreligiöser Menschen könnten unterschiedlicher nicht sein: Inbrunst und Andacht im flackernden Kerzenschein einer katholischen Wallfahrtsmesse. Oder die weltabgewandte Gemeinschaft in Kleidern des 17. Jahrhunderts in den einsamen Weilern der Amish People in Pennsylvanien. Oder aber die ekstatischen Gesänge untermalt von lauter, rhythmisch-melodischer Rockmusik in einem charismatischen Gottesdienst. Diese drei Beispiele aus der christlichen Subkultur bedürfen der Ergänzung aus anderen religiösen Kulturkreisen. Hochreligiöse Menschen wirken auf den außenstehenden Betrachter in einem breiten Spektrum von berührend bis verstörend.
