Abstract

The bariatric and metabolic surgery offers the chance of significantly improving symptoms and ameliorating complications of the underlying problem [1-3], the postoperative outcome depends on psychosocial and behavioral factors. In this chapter we will briefly outline some general psychiatric considerations with respect to bariatric surgery and then discuss the role of specific psychiatric disorders in this context.
