Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel fasst das Wissen um die molekularpathologischen Prozesse zusammen, die bei der Entstehung und Progression von Ösophaguskarzinomen eine Rolle spielen. In Zusammenschau mit der Histologie der Vorläuferläsionen werden prognostische und therapierelevante prädiktive Aussagen gemacht. Bei fortgeschrittenen Karzinomen werden prädiktive Marker für eine HER2/neu, EGFR- und MET-gerichtete Therapie, wie etwa HER2/neu und MET-Genamplifikation sowie Proteinüberexpression oder EGFR- bzw. KRAS-Mutationstatus, erörtert.
