Zusammenfassung

Wenn die in den Thorax fest integrierte BWS verletzt wird, dann häufig durch hochenergetische Traumata mit resultierend höhergradigen Instabilitäten. Da die Verletzungen dorsal der Tragachse liegen, neigen sie, verursacht durch die physiologische Brustkyphose, zu weiterer Kyphosierung. Weder der knöcherne Brustkorb noch das »Luftkissen« der Lunge können diesen Spontanverlauf mit sekundärer lokaler Fehlstellung insbesondere bei instabilen Frakturen verhindern.
