Zusammenfassung

Präzise Angaben zur Inzidenz von Aneurysmen der Aorta thoracica und der thorakoabdominellen Aorta sind nicht möglich, sodass nur eine Schätzung erfolgen kann. Allerdings bieten hierfür relativ zuverlässige Daten aus dem schwedischen Nationalregister (Hospital Discharge-oder Cause of Death-Register) eine Grundlage [78]. In einer bevölkerungsbasierten Studie wurden alle Patienten (Auswertungszeitraum 1987–2002) erfasst, bei denen die Diagnose eines thorakalen Aortenaneurysmas oder einer Aortendissektion gestellt wurde. Bei der Mehrheit der Patienten lag ein Aneurysma vor (60%). Gemessen an der Gesamtpopulation von Schweden betrug die Inzidenz für das Auftreten von thorakalen Aneurysmen etwa 15 pro 100.000 Einwohner. Die detaillierte Auswertung der Daten ergab, dass Männer häufiger betroffen waren (62%) und eine starke Korrelation mit dem Lebensalter bestand. Seit 1987 konnte eine stetige Zunahme von thorakalen Aneurysmen beobachtet werden. Parallel zum Anstieg der diagnostizierten Fälle stieg auch die Zahl der durchgeführten Behandlungen. Aufgrund inkorrekt oder nicht erfasster Patienten muss jedoch die wahre Inzidenz etwas höher angesetzt werden. Eine Differenzierung zwischen Aneurysmen der deszendierenden thorakalen Aorta (DTAA) und thorakoabdominellen Aortenaneurysmen (TAAA) wurde in dieser Studie nicht vorgenommen. Daten einer weiteren demographischen Untersuchung deuten jedoch darauf hin, dass DTAA (9%) und TAAA (13%) nur einen kleineren Anteil aller thorakalen Aneurysmen ausmachen [30].
