Decomposing Business Processes

Business process specifications easily become large. They easily become so large that it is not possible any more to manage them as a whole. This problem has an effect on, e.g., requirement elicitation, communication, realization and maintenance. Therefore hierarchies of business process models emerge, with modeling elements appearing at higher levels of the hierarchies having more abstract meanings than those at lower levels. In this chapter we discuss the parallel decomposition of control flow and data specification.
