Semantics of Business Process Models

This chapter is about business process models, their semantics and their nonformality. It is about business process modeling and its non-formality. The semantics of business process models is an important topic, because there is a gap between business process modeling and executable workflow specification. Basically, there are three overlapping problem areas that lead to this gap: Non-formality of business process modeling languages. Unawareness of technical business process complexity in business process modeling languages. System design orientation of workflow technologies.
