Krebs ist ein weltweites Problem. Pro Jahr sterben 4–5 Mio. Menschen an den Folgen ihrer Tumorerkrankung; in Deutschland sind dies jährlich ca. 220.000 Menschen, d.h. 25% aller Todesfälle gehen zu Lasten eines Karzinoms [43, 47].
