Object Detection on Images Captured Using a Special Equipment

Images captured by a conventional camera can show various objects with different backgrounds which correspond to the human visual perception. It is different when dealing with an object not perceptible by human eye or not visible in that particular environment. It can be made visible by using a special camera, such as a high-dynamic-range (HDR) or an X-ray camera. One of the most important tasks of such cameras is to make visible objects inside a material, such as hidden defects. This is, however, only an intermediate stage. The goal is automatic detection and evaluation of hidden or poorly visible objects. Usually, the objects captured with these cameras appear rather blurred and with a noisy background. The evaluation of such images is an extremely big challenge which can now be met using the adaptive edge-based object detection.
