Abstract

Document logistics has evolved into a new logistics service field recently. Large logistics service providers, such as Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), arvato AG, Pitney Bowes or Rhenus Logistics, offer integrated service solutions for transporting, storing (saving, filing, archiving), handling and converting (printing, copying, scanning) paper-based and electronic documents today. The global market for document logistics offers huge potentials for logistics service providers to take over such processes from other companies (MJ Critelli, Back Where We Belong, 2005, pp. 47–48).
