Grundsätzlich soll der Anästhesist vor jeder Anästhesie die Möglichkeit zum Gespräch mit Eltern und Kind haben und das Kind untersuchen können. So erhält er wesentliche Informationen für die geplante Narkose: aktueller Gesundheitszustand des Kindes, Vorgeschichte, Allergien, Medikamentengebrauch, frühere Anästhesieerfahrungen des Patienten und der Familie.
