Das Recht auf bestmögliche medizinische Behandlung ist ein fundamentales Recht jedes kranken Kindes. Die European Association for Children in Hospital (EACH) hat einige Merksätze publiziert, die in einer Charta für Kinder im Krankenhaus zusammengefasst sind (⊡ Tab. 1.1). Bei diesen Vorgaben handelt es sich um durchaus erstrebenwerte Ziele, um deren Umsetzung man sich bei der Betreuung von Kindern bemühen sollte.
