The WEEE Directive (Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on waste electrical and electronic equipment) which came into force on 13 February 2003 has the objective to protect and improve the quality of the environment by reducing the volume of treated electrical and electronic waste in the European Union.
