For aviation, a suitable alternative for currently used in-flight anti-/de-icing technologies for today’s aircrafts with metal structures and future aircrafts with replaced composite structures is necessary. During the two years Brite/Euram CAPRI-Project (Civial Aircraft Protection against Rain and Ice, 1990–1992), some fundamental aspects of ice protection were investigated. The program included theoretical and experimental work, in which the development of a 2.45 GHz microwave system was carried out at a fundamental technological level [44].
