Abstract
Ultra Wide Band (UWB), as allowed by the FCC, covers a spectrum that involves multiples of gigahertz. Therefore, reception of such a signal requires a slight change from conventional ways while using the same phenomena like demodulation, post amplification and detection. This paper details a novel approach towards reception of UWB following the current European standards (3.1 - 4.80 GHz and 6.0 - 8.5 GHz) maintaining cost, size and power consumption as the key design parameters. The whole process of implementation in the receiver is discussed, with a block-by-block description from antenna to detector. The step-by-step results give an understanding of the functioning of each block. Finally, different real life phenomena are tested in order to judge the performance of the receptor in a more realistic manner.
